Kapo

1911 – 1989

Revivalist bishop and self-taught painter and sculptor

Distinguished is level 3 of 4 in the Jamaica Hall of Fame: sustained excellence over a career, widely honoured at home. See how the levels work.

Why they are here

Mallica Reynolds, known as Kapo, a Revivalist religious leader whose paintings and carvings are treasures of Jamaican art.

Kapo had no formal training and is considered one of the greatest of Jamaica's 'Intuitive' artists; his work is a centrepiece of the National Gallery of Jamaica.
